Take a Stack Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 15, 2026. This policy explains how Take a Stack handles your data.
Summary
Take a Stack is a fully offline, on-device utility. It collects no personal data, connects to no servers, and includes no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Everything you create stays on your device unless you explicitly share or export it.
Data You Create
The app stores the following data locally on your device using SwiftData and the iOS file system:
- Script project titles and text you type or paste
- Session notes and target duration settings you add to projects
- Audio recordings (48 kHz AAC .m4a files in Documents/voice/)
- Per-take RMS level measurements computed on-device at record time
- Star ratings and text notes attached to individual takes
- Second-pass redo flags attached to script lines
- Stitched export files and CSV cue sheets you generate (Documents/exports/)
- App preferences stored in UserDefaults (WPM setting, haptics toggle, etc.)
None of this data is transmitted to any server or third party. It remains under your control on your device.
Permissions
Take a Stack requests microphone access only when you initiate a recording. This permission is used solely to capture audio for voiceover takes. The app does not access the microphone at any other time. No other system permissions are required or requested.
Tracking and Analytics
Take a Stack does not track users across apps or websites. It does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. No identifiers (advertising ID, device fingerprint, or similar) are collected or shared.
Data Sharing
The app does not transmit any data to external servers. If you choose to share or export audio or CSV files using the iOS share sheet, those files leave the app under your explicit direction and are subject to the privacy policies of the services you share them with.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data persists until you delete it within the app (Settings → Reset everything, or individual project/take deletion) or uninstall the app. When the app is deleted, iOS removes all associated data from your device.
Children
Take a Stack does not knowingly collect information from children. The app has no account system, no data collection, and no network communication.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated. Because the app collects no data from users, such changes are unlikely.
