Take a Stack v1.2

Record, compare, choose, and deliver stronger voiceover takes — all on device.

What It Does

Take a Stack is a purpose-built take-management tool for solo voice creators. Paste a script, record up to 8 takes per line, compare them, lock in a winner, and stitch the whole script into a single final track — no account, no cloud, no ads.

New in 1.1

  • Level meter on every take — green/cyan/red traffic-light badge showing dBFS level
  • Second Pass queue — flag lines for a redo; the Record tab surfaces them all in one list
  • Target duration — set a spot length and see over/under feedback in Session Stats
  • Teleprompter mode — word-by-word auto-scroll at project WPM
  • Session Notes — director brief and tone guide per project
  • Session Stats — keeper rate, take histogram, pacing score, and level analytics
  • Cue sheet CSV export for client delivery

Level Meter

Every take shows a compact traffic-light badge after recording: green means your level landed in the –22 to –10 dBFS sweet spot for voice work, cyan means you were quiet, red means you ran hot. Session Stats adds a mean-level card across all winners with actionable advice. (Source: ACX audiobook standards.)

Second Pass

Tap the flag button on any script line while recording to mark it for a redo — even if it already has a winner take. A dedicated Second Pass section appears at the top of the Record tab, queuing all flagged lines across every project so you can batch-retake without hunting through the script.

Target Duration

Set a target spot length (15 s, 30 s, 60 s, 90 s, or custom) when creating a project or via Session Notes. Session Stats compares the stitched estimate against the target and shows how many words to cut or add if you're over or under — built for timed ads and fixed-length broadcast spots.

Teleprompter

Full-screen word-highlight auto-scroll paced to your project WPM. Swipe to adjust speed on the fly; tap to pause. Navigate between lines without leaving the view, keeping your hands free while the mic is hot.

Session Notes

Attach a director brief, tone guide, or client context directly to a project. It appears as a collapsible card above the script lines — the brief is always one glance away when you're about to record.

Session Stats

Per-project analytics: total recording time, keeper rate, takes-per-line histogram, hardest lines, pacing consistency score, and — new — mean recording level with traffic-light grading across all winner takes.

Cue Sheet Export

Export a CSV cue sheet from Session Stats listing every line with its winning take duration, file name, star rating, notes, and gap setting. Open in Numbers, Excel, or send to a client as a delivery manifest.
