Snipnest Support

Help, troubleshooting, and contact information for Snipnest 2.1.

Getting Started

Open Snipnest, then click Import Folder in the toolbar (or choose a watched folder in Settings) to build your library. OCR runs automatically on each screenshot as it is imported.

Action Review

Open Library Insights to see action load across the library. Select a screenshot to view copyable follow-up signals such as deadlines, meetings, questions, invoices, contacts, and blocked work.

Smart Collections

Click the sidebar icon in the toolbar to show the Collections panel. Use the preset collections (Favourites, This Week, Receipts, etc.) or click + to create your own with any combination of tags, OCR keywords, source app, date range, or favourite status.

CSV Export

Click the Export toolbar menu and choose Export Metadata as CSV…. The CSV includes filename, captured date, source app, tags, dimensions, file size, and an OCR text excerpt. Apply a date-range filter first to export only a specific time window.

Permissions

Snipnest watches a folder only after you select one in Settings. File access is limited to folders you explicitly choose. No background processes run when the app is closed.

Need Help?

Email the App Store product page with your Mac model, macOS version (e.g. macOS 15.4), and a short description of the issue.

Common Questions

Does the app require an account?
No. Snipnest is fully local and works without any account or internet connection.

Where is my data stored?
App data (thumbnails, OCR text, tags, notes, Smart Collections, privacy findings, and Action Review summaries) is stored in your Mac’s app container using SwiftData. The original screenshot files remain wherever they were — Snipnest references them but does not move or copy them.

Can I recover hidden screenshots?
Yes. Hidden screenshots (including those hidden by the Duplicate Scanner) are soft-deleted — they remain on disk. A future filter to reveal hidden items is planned.

How do I remove the app?
Quit Snipnest, delete it from Applications, and optionally remove its app container at ~/Library/Containers/com.realbobcorbin.Snipnest.
