Phrasepocket is a fully offline travel phrasebook for iPhone and iPad. Browse 250 carefully chosen phrases across 12 categories — Greetings, Directions, Food & Drink, Numbers, Emergencies, Shopping, Hotel, Time & Days, Health, Polite, Money, and Transportation — in 12 languages. Tap any phrase to hear it spoken aloud by the device's on-board text-to-speech engine, even in airplane mode and even with the phone on silent.

Every phrase shows the foreign text, a phonetic pronunciation guide in plain English letters, and the English source. Nothing is locked behind an account or subscription.

Quiz Mode (New in 1.1)

Retrieval practice — forcing yourself to recall a word before you see it — is significantly more effective for long-term memory than passive review. Phrasepocket's Quiz Mode puts this into a clean flip-card interface designed for pre-trip cramming.

Choose your scope (Favorites for a tight personal list, or an entire category for systematic coverage). The deck is shuffled. After each reveal, grade yourself honestly: Got it keeps it out of the retry pile, Missed adds it back. The summary shows your score and lists every missed phrase with phonetics so you can say them out loud immediately.

Cheat Sheet Export (New in 1.1)

Sometimes you want a backup that doesn't need the app. Tap the share button (↑) on any category phrase list or Favorites to get a three-column plain-text sheet — English, translation, and pronunciation guide — ready to paste into Notes, print, or slip into a trip document. It takes three seconds and works completely offline.
