Pagecrisp Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 15, 2026. This policy explains how Pagecrisp handles your data.
Data Handling
Pagecrisp is designed as a fully on-device app. Every page image, PDF, recognized text, tag, and sort preference is stored on this device. No data is transmitted to any server.
OCR and Search
Optical character recognition runs locally using Apple’s Vision framework. Full-text search scans the locally stored OCR sidecars on your device. Nothing is uploaded, indexed remotely, or shared with any third party.
Tags and Sort Preferences
Tags you assign to documents are stored in the document metadata on this device (in your app’s private Application Support folder). Your sort-order preference is stored in UserDefaults on this device. Neither is transmitted anywhere.
Image Mode Filters and Document Merge
The Color, Grayscale, and Black & White image mode filters are applied locally using Apple’s CoreImage framework before page images are written to disk. No image data is transmitted. Document merge reads existing page images from this device, builds a new PDF on-device, and stores it in the same private folder as all other Pagecrisp documents. Nothing is sent anywhere during merge.
Page Editing and Text Export
When you reorder or delete pages, the updated PDF and text layer are rebuilt on-device. When you export OCR text as a .txt file, the file is written to your device’s temporary directory and shared via the standard iOS share sheet — Pagecrisp does not retain a copy and does not transmit the file.
Tracking and Third Parties
Pagecrisp does not track users across apps or websites. There are no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or developer backends. The PrivacyInfo manifest declares only the UserDefaults and FileManager reason codes Apple requires.
Permissions
Pagecrisp requests camera access only when you tap Scan. No other system permissions are required. Permission choices can be changed at any time in the Settings app.
Data Deletion
Deleting Pagecrisp from your device removes every scan, PDF, recognized text file, and tag. There is no cloud backup to wipe separately.
