Outpost Desk Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 19, 2026. Last updated: June 27, 2026. This policy explains how Outpost Desk handles data.
Data Handling
Outpost Desk processes all text, documents, snippets, readability reports, clarity reports, and Dispatch Packets locally on your Mac. The app does not connect to the internet, does not require an account, and does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Exported content is saved only where you direct it using the standard macOS save dialog.
Information You Choose to Provide
The app stores three kinds of data locally on your Mac:
- Conversations โ text you type and the structured output Outpost produces, stored in the app's sandboxed SwiftData container.
- Snippets โ reusable text snippets you create in the Snippet Library, stored in UserDefaults inside the app sandbox.
- Settings โ your preferred mode and export preferences, stored in UserDefaults.
None of this data leaves your Mac unless you explicitly export a file or use macOS sharing, backup, or cloud-sync features outside the app.
File Access
Outpost Desk can open PDF and text files you select via the macOS file picker. This access is granted by you at the time of selection and is scoped to the files you choose. The app does not scan, index, or retain access to files you did not select.
Tracking and Third Parties
Outpost Desk does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not sell personal data, and does not track you across apps or websites. There is no analytics framework in the app.
Permissions
The only macOS permission Outpost Desk uses is user-selected file access (granted via the standard open/save panel). No microphone, camera, location, contacts, calendar, or network access is requested or used.
Children
Outpost Desk does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated date above will reflect the revision. Because the app is fully offline, no data-handling behavior changes without an app update.
