Fast PDF Support

Help and contact information for Fast PDF 1.4.

Getting Started

Open Fast PDF and tap Create Fast PDF Folder to set a save destination. Then tap Scan Document for multi-page scans or Rapid Capture for one-PDF-per-shot mode.

Page Rotation

In the Review & Save sheet, tap any page thumbnail to rotate it 90° clockwise. Each tap adds another 90°. The saved PDF reflects the corrected orientation.

Filename Templates

Go to Settings and enable Name Templates. Enter a pattern using tokens like {prefix}, {date}, {time}, {year}, {month}, or {day}. A live preview shows how the next filename will look.

Rapid Session Summary

After closing Rapid Capture, a summary card appears automatically if at least one PDF was saved. It shows file count, total size, and capture rate. Tap View in History to see the files.

PDF Merge

Open History (clock icon in the toolbar), then tap the Merge button. Select two or more PDFs in the order you want them to appear — each shows a numbered badge as you select. Type an output name and tap Merge. The combined PDF is saved to your Fast PDF folder alongside the originals.

History Search & Filter

In Recent PDFs, use the search bar at the top to filter by name. Tap a tag chip (All, Receipt, Contract, ID, Medical, Financial, Other) to see only documents with that label. Both filters work together. Tap Clear filters to reset.

Persistent Tags

Tags set in the Review & Save sheet are now stored in a sidecar file (FastPDF-tags.json) inside your Fast PDF folder. They survive app reinstalls and appear in History next to each document.

Scan QA Lab

Tap the Pro Pack card on the home screen. Adjust the five metric sliders to match your capture conditions and read live recommendations. The checklist and scenario playbook are fully offline.

Common Questions

Why is Rapid Capture greyed out?
Rapid Capture requires a Fast PDF folder to be set first. Tap Create Fast PDF Folder on the home screen, choose a location in Files, and Rapid Capture will become available.

How do I fix a rotated page?
Scan your document, then tap the page thumbnail in the Review & Save sheet. Each tap rotates 90° clockwise. Tap until the page is upright, then save.

What do the document tags do?
Tags are a local label (Receipt, Contract, ID, Medical, Financial, Other) applied at save time. In version 1.4 they persist across launches in a sidecar file inside your Fast PDF folder. They appear in History and can be filtered by tapping a tag chip.

How do I merge two PDFs?
Open History, tap the Merge button in the top-left toolbar. Tap each PDF you want to include — a numbered badge shows the selection order. Type a name for the output and tap Merge. The merged PDF is saved to your folder alongside the originals.

Can I delete files from History?
Yes. Open History (clock icon), then swipe left on any entry to delete that PDF from your Fast PDF folder permanently.

Does the app require an account or internet?
No. Fast PDF is fully offline. No account, no subscription, no network calls of any kind.

Where is my data stored?
PDFs are written directly to the Files folder you choose. App preferences are stored in UserDefaults on your device. Document tags are stored in a FastPDF-tags.json file inside your Fast PDF folder. Nothing leaves the device unless you explicitly export or share a file.
