Hold the phone near the middle of the room at chest height, take out earbuds, and keep the room quiet during the listen. For more stability, turn on "Average several readings" in Settings — the quality gauge warns when the impulse is too close to the noise floor.

Common Questions
Does the app require an account or the internet?
No. Echoroom works fully offline with no account, and it does not connect to any network.
How accurate is it?
Echoroom uses an ISO 3382-style T20/T30 method on a single-phone capture. It is a fast planning tool and gives estimates, not calibrated lab measurements. The quality gauge flags noisy captures.
What is the room mode calculator?
Enter your room's length, width, and height and the calculator computes every axial, tangential, and oblique resonant frequency (standing wave) up to 300 Hz — adjustable to 500 Hz. You'll see a frequency-map chart, how many modes cluster within 20 Hz of each other (a bass-response warning), the Schroeder frequency (the point above which the room becomes diffuse), and a Louden dimension-ratio grade that rates your room shape against published optimal proportions. It links directly to the treatment calculator for next steps.
What is the treatment calculator?
Enter your room size and main surfaces, pick a target reverb time, and Echoroom estimates how much of a chosen absorber to add using the Sabine equation, with Eyring shown as a cross-check.
How do I export my measurements?
Go to Settings and tap "Export measurements as CSV." All saved readings are packaged as a spreadsheet — including per-band RT60, clarity metrics (C50, C80, EDT, D50, Ts), SNR, and notes — and the system share sheet lets you send it anywhere you like.
Where is my data stored?
Saved measurements live in a local file on your device. No audio recordings are kept. You can delete any or all of them in Settings.
How do I remove the app?
Delete it from your Home Screen like any other app; its local data is removed with it.
