Privacy Policy
Sungrade is a local-first utility. The app does not require an account, does not use advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not send your location, window data, or plant selections to any developer-run server.
Information processed by the app
When you add a window, Sungrade uses your device's compass and tilt sensor to record the window's azimuth (direction it faces) and tilt angle. It requests your GPS location or accepts coordinates you type manually, and uses that latitude and longitude to compute the sun's position across the year. This processing happens entirely on device. The results — window name, direction, coordinates, computed grades, and plant recommendations — are stored only on your device.
Where data is stored
Window measurements, grades, and preferences are written to the app's local UserDefaults storage on your device. Sungrade does not operate a customer database, cloud sync, or any server-side storage.
Location access
Sungrade requests While In Use location access to obtain your latitude and longitude for the solar position calculation. Your location is used only for this calculation and is never transmitted off your device. You may also enter coordinates manually without granting location permission.
Motion and compass access
Sungrade reads the device compass and accelerometer during the window-capture step to determine which direction a window faces. Motion data is not stored beyond the captured heading and tilt angle saved with the window record.
Tracking and analytics
Sungrade does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, fingerprinting, cross-app tracking, or data brokers. The app does not collect data for tracking purposes.
Data sharing
Sungrade does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties. The shareable plain-text sun report feature generates a text string that you control and share yourself via the iOS share sheet — Sungrade does not transmit it.
Children's privacy
Sungrade is a home utility and is not directed to children under 13.
