Tap the + button on any tab. Choose the trip type, number of nights, weather, and toggle laundry availability and international travel, then pick any planned activities. A live counter shows how many items will be generated. Tap Generate — the new trip jumps to the top of your Library with a complete, categorized checklist.
Pack Pulse Start Support
Help for Pack Pulse Start 1.2 — smart packing lists for iPhone and iPad.
Open a trip from the Library to see its packing list grouped by category. Tap any item to mark it packed; tap again to unpack. The progress bar at the top fills as you go, and a warning shows how many essential items are still unpacked. Use "Mark all packed" in the bottom bar when the bag is done.
Daily items like socks and underwear scale with the number of nights, up to a sensible cap. Items you can re-wear after laundry (shirts, workout clothes) are reduced when you turn on "Laundry available." One-off items like a passport, laptop, or charger stay at one. You can change any quantity by deleting and re-adding, or just adjust as you pack.
Go to the Info tab and open "Always-pack memory." Add anything you tend to forget — a charger, an adapter, reading glasses — and it will be added to every list you generate from then on, tagged "Forgot before." Swipe to remove an item from the memory.
Finished a trip with items still unpacked? Open it, tap Edit, and choose "Remember unpacked items for next time." Every item you didn't pack is added to your always-pack memory so it won't slip through again.
Inside a trip's packing list, tap Add item to add a custom line with a category, quantity, and essential flag. Swipe left on any item to delete it. To build a list entirely by hand, choose "Start a blank trip instead" on the New trip screen.
The Export tab offers three options: a plain-text trip summary (now including each trip's full packing list), a trips CSV, and an item-level packing CSV with one row per item. Tap any to share via the iOS share sheet.
Email the App Store product page with your iPhone model, iOS version, and a short description of what happened.
Common Questions
Does the app require an account or internet?
No. Pack Pulse Start is fully offline. No sign-in is required, and no data leaves your device.
Where does the generated list come from?
From a bundled checklist of common travel essentials built into the app, combined with the trip details you provide. It runs entirely on-device — there is no live weather feed or network lookup. Treat the list as a convenient starting point and adjust it for your trip.
Will I lose my old trips after updating?
No. Trips saved by earlier versions load normally; they simply start with an empty packing list, which you can fill by generating one or adding items.
An item shows "Forgot before" — what does that mean?
It came from your always-pack memory. The generator highlights these so you can see exactly which items were added because you've left them behind before.
Why did "Sunscreen" only appear once when I picked Beach in hot weather?
The generator merges duplicate suggestions, so an item recommended by more than one rule appears a single time with the higher quantity.
How do I change a quantity?
The simplest way is to delete the item (swipe left) and add it again with the quantity you want. Generated quantities are starting estimates based on trip length and laundry access.
Where is my data stored?
Trips, packing items, and your always-pack memory are stored in UserDefaults on your device. Nothing is uploaded or backed up to a server.
How do I start over?
On the Info tab, tap "Reset sample data" to restore the bundled sample trips and always-pack memory. This replaces your current trips.
