Mixerbar Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 19, 2026. Last updated: June 27, 2026. This policy explains how Mixerbar handles data.
Data Handling
Mixerbar accesses the microphone only for features the user explicitly starts: the live input meter in the Meter tab and the Quick Record function. Audio is processed in memory for level metering, readiness checks, and clipping/loudness indicators. Audio is written to a local file only during a Quick Record session. No audio is transmitted off-device by Mixerbar.
Information You Choose to Store
The following data is stored locally on your Mac in UserDefaults and is never transmitted:
- Audio profiles (device names, volume levels, profile names)
- Volume schedule rules (time windows, target volumes, day-of-week settings)
- Device priority lists (ranked output device names, enabled states)
- Local display preferences used by the app interface
Quick recordings are saved as .caf audio files in ~/Library/Application Support/Mixerbar/ on your Mac. You control these files and can delete them at any time from Finder.
Tracking and Third Parties
Mixerbar does not use third-party advertising SDKs, analytics services, or crash reporters. It does not sell personal data and does not track you across apps or websites. No network connections are made by the app.
Permissions
Mixerbar requests one macOS permission: microphone access (com.apple.security.device.audio-input). This permission is used only while the Meter tab's live monitor is active or a Quick Record is in progress. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.
Audio Check Reports
The Audio Check report is generated locally from current device and meter status. If you copy the report, it is placed on the macOS clipboard at your direction. Mixerbar does not upload or share the report.
Children
Mixerbar does not knowingly collect any information from children.
