Pick a species, a split size, and a stack exposure and the Season tab estimates a ready-by date — adjusted for the species's known drying range, whether your pieces are large or small, and whether your stack gets sun and wind or sits in the shade. The moisture meter reader interprets any reading from 5% to 45% and tells you whether the wood is ready to burn.
Enter your heated area, climate zone, and insulation level to get a recommended stove size and firebox range. The Plan tab estimates how many cords you'll need per season and what that costs, ranks firewood against oil, propane, gas, electricity, and pellets by cost per million BTU — and now gives you the ideal log length and split width for your specific firebox.

All results are approximate references — real values vary with region, growing conditions, and moisture. Chimney maintenance guidance is general information; always follow your stove and chimney manufacturer's instructions and local codes.
