On the Measure tab, enter the length, depth (piece length), and height of each stack. Tap "Add another stack" for multiple separate rows. Cordwise multiplies to cubic feet and divides by 128 to get cords. Enter what the seller claimed and your price to get a fair-deal verdict and your true price per cord.

After measuring, tap "Save this delivery" to add it to your log. On the Delivery Log screen, tap the share icon (top-left toolbar) to export all saved deliveries as a CSV file. The iOS share sheet lets you save to Files, open in Numbers, or share via email.
On the Inventory tab, tap "Add a pile" to record a stack you have on hand. Enter the name, species, and cords. To log wood you've burned, swipe the pile left and tap "Log burn," then enter the cords consumed. The summary card shows total cords on hand and a weeks-remaining estimate based on your Plan tab settings.
On the Chimney tab, tap "Log maintenance" to record a sweep, inspection, creosote removal, stove service, or repair. The status card shows how many days since your last sweep or inspection and whether the annual NFPA 211 baseline is current. Tap any entry to edit it; swipe to delete.
On the Species tab, pick two woods in the "Compare two woods" card at the top to see heat output, coaling quality, and splitting side by side. The list below sorts by heat (hottest first) or A–Z, and you can filter by hardwood or softwood. Tap any species for full detail including fuel equivalents.

Common Questions
Does the app require an internet connection?
No. Cordwise is fully offline. All species data, guides, and calculations are bundled in the app. Delivery records, wood inventory, and chimney logs are stored on your device.
Does the app require an account?
No account is needed. Everything is stored locally on your device.
What is a full cord?
A full (standard) cord is a stacked pile measuring 4 ft × 4 ft × 8 ft = 128 cubic feet. It's the only legally defined firewood measure in most U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Cordwise uses 128 ft³ as its standard.
What is a face cord / rick?
A face cord is a stack 4 ft high × 8 ft long, but only one piece deep. A 16-inch face cord is one-third of a full cord. "Rick" has no legal definition. The Measure tab calculates face cords automatically from the depth (piece length) you enter.
How is the "weeks remaining" estimate calculated?
Cordwise uses your Plan tab inputs (heated area, climate zone, insulation, wood fraction, and stove efficiency) to estimate your seasonal cord use, then divides by the heating-season length for your climate zone. The result is an estimate — actual use varies with how cold the winter is and how often you run the stove.
How does the chimney status badge work?
The Chimney tab looks at your most recent entry of type Inspection, Sweep, or Creosote Removal. If that date is more than 365 days ago — or if no such entry exists — the badge shows "Sweep overdue." This follows the NFPA 211 annual inspection requirement and the consensus guidance from NFPA, CSIA, and NCSG.
How do I export my delivery log?
On the Delivery Log screen (tap "View delivery log" on the Measure tab), tap the share icon in the top-left toolbar. This creates a CSV with one row per delivery and opens the iOS share sheet. Columns: Date, Seller, Species, Cords measured, Cords claimed, Price paid, Price per cord, Verdict, Note.
What changed in version 1.2?
Version 1.2 adds the Wood Inventory tracker (piles on hand, burn logging, weeks-remaining projection), the Chimney Maintenance Log (sweep/inspection history with NFPA 211 overdue detection), and CSV export of the delivery log from the log toolbar.
