What AfterFolder Does

AfterFolder gives you one secure, biometric-locked place to record everything your executor, attorney, and family may need to find later: documents, accounts, contacts, wishes, review dates, expiry dates, and legacy letters. Everything stays on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Biometric vault. Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode protects every entry. Auto-locks when you leave the app.
Day-One Brief. A new executor handoff summary turns local vault, contact, wish, and audit data into first-priority actions, missing records, and export next steps.
Estate Audit dashboard. A pro maintenance screen checks for stale critical records, missing locations, missing reference labels, due reviews, expiring documents, unverified critical entries, and unlinked critical records.

Document expiry tracking. Set an expiry date on any entry — passports, driver's licenses, vehicle registrations, insurance policies. The dashboard surfaces a colour-coded alert (expired / critical / upcoming) and opens a dedicated Expiring Documents view sorted by urgency.
Checklist-to-entry launch. Every unsatisfied item on the 60+ item readiness checklist now shows a "Start entry in vault →" button that opens the entry editor pre-seeded with the right category and title — eliminating the friction of figuring out where to begin.
Quick Start templates. Five starter packs (Will & Legal, Financial Basics, Digital Identity, Health Summary, Insurance Basics) seed skeleton entries so you know exactly what to fill in — without starting from scratch.
Beneficiary tracking. Record named beneficiaries on any entry — critical for life insurance, retirement accounts, and investment accounts.
PDF export packet. Generates a formatted PDF of every entry, contact, and wish — suitable for printing and handing to your executor in a sealed envelope. Optionally encrypted with AES-GCM. Expiry dates included.
CSV export. Exports the full vault to a spreadsheet-compatible CSV for attorneys, accountants, and executor handoff in Excel or Numbers. Expiry Date column included.
Review due reminders. Set a review date on any entry; the dashboard surfaces overdue and upcoming entries so nothing gets stale.
People tab. 16 contact roles — Executor, Attorney, Accountant, Doctor, Next of Kin, and more — with one-tap call and email.
Wishes & legacy letters. Record funeral preferences, organ donation status, music, keepsakes, and private letters for specific people.

Privacy by Design

AfterFolder never transmits your data. All records live in your device's encrypted storage. The optional export passphrase uses AES-GCM with a 256-bit key derived via HKDF-SHA256 — AfterFolder cannot recover it for you.
