Open AfterFolder and authenticate with Face ID or your device passcode. Tap a category card on the Vault tab to add your first entry — or tap "Start with a Quick Start pack" on an empty vault to seed skeleton entries from a template. Fill in the details and save.

Open the Audit tab to see a maintenance score, best next move, and work queue. The audit checks for stale critical entries, missing locations, missing reference labels, due reviews, expiring documents, unverified critical entries, and unlinked critical records. It is an organizing checklist, not legal, financial, or medical advice.
Open the Brief tab to see a concise executor handoff summary. It highlights missing legal documents, missing contacts, unverified critical entries, expiring records, digital access hints, subscriptions, wishes, and export next steps. Tap "Share Day-One Brief" to send the plain-text summary through the iOS share sheet.
The Quick Start feature (Vault tab banner, or Settings → Tools → Quick Start) creates labelled empty entries across five common estate categories so you know exactly what to fill in. You can apply any or all packs; existing entries with matching titles are skipped.
Go to the Export tab to generate a PDF of your entire vault — suitable for printing and handing to your executor. You can optionally encrypt it with a passphrase. A CSV export is also available for attorney or executor handoff in Excel or Numbers.
When editing any entry you can set a Document Expiry date — useful for passports, driver's licences, vehicle registrations, and insurance policies. If any entries are expiring within 90 days (or already expired), an amber banner appears on the Vault dashboard. Tap it to open the Expiring Documents view, which groups entries by urgency: expired, critical (within 30 days), upcoming (within 90 days), and later.
When editing any entry you can set a Review Date. Entries that are overdue or due within 30 days will appear as a banner on the Vault dashboard and in Settings → Tools → Review Due.
On the Readiness Checklist tab, any item that hasn't been satisfied yet shows a "Start entry in vault →" button. Tapping it opens the entry editor pre-filled with the correct category and a suggested title, so you can go from checklist to saved entry in seconds.
AfterFolder locks itself automatically when you leave the app or put it in the background. If you are locked out after failed attempts, wait 30 seconds and try again. The app uses your device's Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode — it has no separate PIN.
