AfterFolder Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 20, 2026. Last updated: June 27, 2026.
Summary
AfterFolder does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything you record stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics SDKs, no network calls, and no third-party services.
What Data the App Stores
AfterFolder stores only the data you explicitly enter: vault entries, contacts, wishes, legacy letters, review dates, expiry dates, and local audit/brief status derived from those records. This data is written to your device's local storage using iOS complete-file-protection (encrypted at rest). It never leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it yourself.
Exports
When you generate a PDF or CSV export, the file is written to the app's local Documents/Exports folder on your device. When you share a Day-One Brief, the text is passed only to the iOS share sheet at your request. AfterFolder does not upload or transmit files or brief text automatically. The optional encrypted export (.affolder) uses AES-GCM with a 256-bit key derived via HKDF-SHA256 from a passphrase you set; AfterFolder cannot recover that passphrase.
Biometric Authentication
AfterFolder uses iOS LocalAuthentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode) to protect access to your vault. Biometric data never passes through AfterFolder — it is handled entirely by iOS and never leaves your device.
Tracking and Analytics
AfterFolder contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, no advertising frameworks, and no tracking of any kind. It does not track users across apps or websites.
Permissions
AfterFolder requests only Face ID permission (NSFaceIDUsageDescription) to enable biometric unlock. The Audit and Day-One Brief tabs are computed locally from records already stored on your device and require no network access or additional permissions. No other system permissions are requested or used.
Children
AfterFolder is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from minors.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a material way, the effective date above will be updated. Because no data is collected, any changes will relate only to how the app stores data on-device.
