Sonance Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 27, 2026. This policy explains how Sonance handles data.
Data Collection
Sonance does not collect personal data. The app does not use accounts, analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, tracking, or a developer server.
Microphone
Sonance requests microphone access so it can estimate sound levels and draw the live spectrum. Audio is processed frame by frame in memory and immediately discarded. Sonance does not record microphone audio to a file, save microphone audio, or transmit microphone audio.
Local Storage
Sonance stores app preferences locally on your device, including theme, weighting mode, calibration offset, and display settings. If you tap Save, Sonance also stores numeric session summaries such as min, average, max, peak, duration, weighting, timestamp, and a short label. Saved sessions and field reports do not contain audio.
Reference Audio
The test tones, sweep, noise, and ambience clips are bundled inside the app. They are played locally and do not require a network connection.
Tracking and Third Parties
Sonance does not track users across apps or websites, does not include third-party analytics SDKs, and does not use advertising identifiers.
Exports and Sharing
Sonance does not upload your data. Version 1.1 can export saved-session summaries as CSV through iOS sharing or copy them to the clipboard. If you use iOS sharing, backups, screenshots, or other system features outside the app, that activity is controlled by iOS and the services you choose.
Health and Measurement Disclaimer
Sonance provides educational hearing-safety context and estimated sound-level readings. It is not a medical device and is not a certified sound-level meter.
