KinCasebook Privacy Policy
Effective August 1, 2026.
Summary
KinCasebook does not collect app data, track users, show ads, require an account, use subscriptions, or use a developer-operated backend. Shadowfetch Studios does not sell or share personal information from the app.
Information stored on your device
The app stores proof cases, candidate identities, hypotheses, sources, citations, claims, evidence links, negative searches, timeline events, conflicts, research targets, conclusions, notes, settings, and source attachments you choose to create or import. This information remains in KinCasebook's protected app container and is not transmitted to Shadowfetch Studios.
Selected files and images
When you use an Apple system file picker or photo picker, KinCasebook receives only the item you select. A protected local copy may be stored as a source attachment with filename, size, capture date, note, and SHA-256 digest. The app does not browse unrelated files or photos.
Living-person controls
You can mark candidate identities and sources as private living-person information and mark claims or conclusion sentences as private. The share-packet option can remove private candidates, sources, related claims and links, timeline entries, conflicts, and conclusion text before export. You remain responsible for reviewing the packet and choosing its destination.
Sharing and exports
Portable cases, PDFs, CSV files, JSON manifests, and GEDCOM reference files are generated locally and passed to Apple system sharing interfaces. You choose whether and where to save or share them. KinCasebook does not upload exports to the developer.
Network, analytics, and tracking
The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDK and makes no developer data requests. The support and privacy pages open in your browser only when selected. Background maintenance only removes stale temporary export files created by KinCasebook.
Retention and deletion
Local cases and attachments remain until you delete them or remove the app, subject to device backups and files you exported under your control. Deleting a case removes source attachments held by that case from the app container.
Security and integrity
Local library and attachment writes use Apple complete file protection where available. Portable archives include a SHA-256 payload digest, and imports reject a wrong product identifier, unsupported schema, digest mismatch, empty case, or broken evidence relationship.
Product scope
KinCasebook structures research evidence and reasoning. It does not determine identity automatically, certify a genealogical conclusion, or replace original-source review.
