Getting Started

Open Yieldpan and paste any recipe into the Scale tab. Adjust the Original Servings stepper if needed, then tap "Scale this recipe". Drag the servings stepper on the next screen or tap a quick preset (half / original / double / quadruple) to update all quantities in real time.

Ingredient Detail

Tap any ingredient row in the scaled view to see it expressed in every equivalent unit (cups, ml, grams, ounces, etc.) using Yieldpan's bundled density table. From that sheet, tap Substitutions to see common ingredient swaps with exact ratios.

Common Questions

How do I use the High-Altitude Advisor?
Open the Tools tab and tap High-Altitude Advisor. Select your elevation band — the tool shows four ranges (3,000–5,000 ft through above 8,000 ft) with example cities to help you choose. Tap "Show adjustments" and Yieldpan displays per-ingredient advice: how much to reduce baking powder or baking soda, how much extra liquid to add per cup, and how much to trim sugar. General advice (oven temperature, timing, yeast) is always shown regardless of which ingredients are in your recipe.

What is the Oven Temperature Guide?
Open the Tools tab and tap Oven Temperature Guide. It shows a complete table: Gas Mark ¼ through 9, the Fahrenheit equivalent, the Celsius conventional (static) equivalent, and the Celsius fan/convection equivalent. Tap any row to see all four values highlighted together. Useful when a recipe gives Gas Mark and you need Fahrenheit, or vice versa.

What is the fan/convection rule?
Fan-assisted (convection) ovens circulate air and bake faster. The standard rule is to set them 20°C (about 36°F) lower than a conventional recipe temperature. Yieldpan's Oven Temperature Guide applies this rule consistently across the entire table.

How do I use the Baker's Percentage Calculator?
Open the Tools tab and tap Baker's Percentage. Enter each ingredient's weight in grams. Tap the "f" badge to flag flour ingredients and the drop badge to flag liquids. Yieldpan shows each ingredient as a percentage of total flour weight and calculates hydration. Use the Target Flour slider to rescale the whole recipe. Tap "Copy baker's percentages" to copy results as plain text.

How does the Pan Swap Calculator work?
Open the Tools tab and tap Pan Swap Calculator. Choose the pan your recipe calls for and the pan you own. Yieldpan computes the exact scale factor from the ratio of cross-sectional areas and gives baking time guidance.

Where are ingredient substitutions?
Tap any ingredient row in the scaled view, then tap Substitutions in the detail sheet. Bundled data covers 27 common baking staples — no internet required.

Does the altitude advisor use my location?
No. Yieldpan never requests location permission. You select your elevation band manually.

Does the app require an account?
No. Yieldpan has no accounts, no sign-in, and no network activity of any kind.

Where is my data stored?
Your recipe history and settings are stored locally on your device in UserDefaults. Nothing leaves your device.

What changed in 1.2?
Version 1.2 adds the High-Altitude Advisor (per-ingredient elevation adjustments sourced from King Arthur Baking and CSU Extension), the Oven Temperature Guide (complete Gas Mark/°F/°C/fan table), and a "Copy" button for Baker's Percentage results.
