Common questions

Do I need an account?

Winston Scientific works without sign-in or account creation.

Does the app need the internet?

No. The calculator, grapher, Function Lab, unit converter, constants library, statistics, formula library, and history all work fully offline.

How do I switch between degrees and radians?

Tap the angle-mode pill in the top-left of the Calc, Graph, or Function Lab screens to cycle RAD → DEG → GRAD. You can also set it in Settings. Radians is the default so calculus results in Function Lab match the standard convention; if your trig answers look off, check this badge first.

Where are the unit converter and constants?

Open the Tools tab. It contains the Unit Converter (17 categories, 140+ units), the Physical Constants library (45 CODATA 2022 constants you can tap to insert or copy), Statistics, and Settings.

How does the Study tab work?

The Study tab is a searchable library of 68 formulas. Formulas marked with a function icon open a live mini-solver you can fill in to compute a result.

Where do the constants and conversion factors come from?

Physical constants use NIST CODATA 2022 recommended values and unit-conversion ratios use the defined values in NIST SP 811. Both are bundled in the app.
