Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Sipcare works without sign-in or account creation of any kind.

Does the app sync with the web or other devices?

No. All patient data is stored locally on this device. There is no cloud sync.

How do I add a patient?

Tap the person-plus icon in the top-right corner of the Patients tab. Enter a name, an optional age, and a daily fluid target, then tap "Add Patient." The patient card appears immediately.

How do I set a daily target?

You can type a target directly or use the built-in calculator. Tap "Calculate from weight" in the Add/Edit Patient form, enter the patient's weight in kg or lb, and Sipcare computes a 30 mL/kg/day estimate. Tap "Use this" to apply it. Always adjust to your clinician's specific guidance.

How do I log a sip?

From the Patients tab, tap any fluid-type tile on the patient's card (Water, Tea, Juice, Soup, Other). A sheet opens with the default amount pre-filled. Adjust the amount or add a note, then tap "Log Sip." You can also tap the patient card to open their detail view and use the "Log a sip" button there.

What is the Shift tab?

The Shift tab is a live shift summary. It shows a watchlist of every patient below 75% of their daily target, a per-patient breakdown of today's intake by fluid type, and a "Share Handoff Report" button that generates a plain-text summary of the full shift — suitable for pasting into a notes app, messaging to a colleague, or printing.

How do I export a patient's history to CSV?

Open the Shift tab, find the patient card, and tap "Export CSV." The iOS share sheet opens with a .csv file containing every logged entry — date, time, fluid type, amount in oz and mL, and notes — sorted oldest first. Send it by email, save to Files, or AirDrop it.

What does the handoff report contain?

The plain-text report includes: the date and time the report was generated, a watchlist of patients below 75% target, and for every patient — their name, age, today's total vs. target with percentage and zone, a per-fluid-type breakdown, the time of their last sip, and a full entry-by-entry log with amounts and notes.

How do reminders work?

Go to Settings and toggle "Hydration reminders" on. The app asks for notification permission. Once granted, it schedules repeating alerts for each patient inside the time window you set (default 8 AM – 8 PM, every 4 hours). Turning reminders off cancels all pending notifications immediately. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can I use milliliters instead of ounces?

Yes. Open Settings and change "Display unit" to Milliliters. All targets, totals, quick-add amounts, and export values switch immediately.

How do I delete an entry?

On a patient's detail screen, swipe any entry in "Today's log" to the left to reveal the Delete button. On the Today timeline tab, swipe an entry left as well. Entries can also be deleted from the Shift tab's per-patient card.

How do I erase all data?

Open Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap "Erase all data." This removes all patients, all entries, and resets preferences. The action cannot be undone.
