Open Pickleline and go to the Camera tab. Grant camera permission when prompted, then prop your phone on a tripod or fence aimed at the baseline. The ring buffer starts automatically. Tap Capture on any contested call to save the last 5 seconds.

Open the Score tab and tap "Start Match" to configure your match (doubles or singles, side-out or rally scoring, game point). Use "Team A Won" or "Team B Won" after each rally. The score updates automatically including server number, serve side, and the USA Pickleball announce format. Tap Undo to reverse the last rally. The score persists if you switch tabs or briefly close the app.
When a match is active on the Score tab, every clip you capture on the Camera tab is automatically stamped with the current live score. The stamp appears as a badge in the library list and in the replay player so you know exactly where in the game each disputed call happened.
Open any clip from the Library tab to enter the replay screen. Use the Shot Type chips to mark the shot (Serve, Return, Drive, Dink, Lob, Overhead, Drop, Erne) and the Call Type chips to mark the dispute. Tags are saved immediately and appear in the library row. Use the filter bar at the top of the Library to show only clips with a specific tag.
In the replay screen, tap any speed button (0.1x, 0.25x, 0.5x, 1.0x) to change speed instantly. Use 0.1x to nearly freeze the frame near ball contact. Tap Replay to restart from the beginning at the current speed.
The Replay Coach tab provides an 8-step review checklist, USA Pickleball 2026 court dimensions, a rules reference for the five most disputed situations, and a live breakdown of how your tagged clips are distributed by shot and call type.
Clips auto-delete 60 minutes after capture. To keep a clip permanently, open it and toggle the Keep switch. Kept clips are pinned and shown with a yellow pin icon in the library.

Common Questions
Why does the Capture button appear dim?
The ring buffer needs one full 5-second slot to complete before the first capture is available. Wait a few seconds after opening the Camera tab — the button will activate and show "Ready".
How does the score keeper track the serve side?
For traditional side-out doubles, Pickleline follows USA Pickleball Rule 4.B: the server stands on the right side of the court when the serving team's score is even, and the left side when it is odd. The serve side updates automatically after every rally.
What is "server number" in side-out doubles?
In doubles side-out scoring, when a team earns the serve they get two chances to score — server 1 serves first, then server 2 if server 1 loses a rally. When server 2 loses, the serve passes to the other team. The exception is the very first server of the game, who starts as server 2 (USA Pickleball Rule 4.B.1).
Can I change the ring buffer length?
The buffer is fixed at 5 seconds. This matches the window needed to see the shot, bounce, and line position in a single clip.
Where are my clips stored?
Clips are stored in your device's local cache directory. They never leave your phone. iOS may remove unpinned cache files if storage is critically low.
Does the app require an account or internet connection?
No. Pickleline works entirely on-device with no account and no network access.

Version 1.3 adds the Score tab (on-court score keeper for doubles/singles in side-out or rally scoring, with server number, serve side, game point options 11/15/21, full rally history, and undo), automatic score stamping on every clip captured while a match is active, and the live score badge in the camera HUD, library rows, and replay player.
