Marginalia Privacy Policy
Marginalia is designed as a local-first document reading companion. The developer does not collect, sell, rent, or track personal data.
Data Collection
Marginalia does not require an account and does not send your documents, questions, summaries, extracts, library contents, or usage history to a developer server. The developer does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, contact information, diagnostics, or tracking data from the app.
Documents And AI Output
Documents you import, text you paste, saved summaries, answers, extracts, local settings, and reading state are stored locally on your device. Marginalia uses Apple on-device intelligence for supported AI features. Your document content is not uploaded to Shadowfetch servers.
File Access
Marginalia accesses only files that you explicitly choose through the system file picker or text that you paste into the app. It supports text-based PDFs, plain text, and Markdown. Scanned PDFs without selectable text may not be usable until they are OCR processed outside the app.
Purchases
Optional purchases and restore requests are handled by Apple through StoreKit. Apple may process purchase-related information according to Apple's own privacy practices. Shadowfetch does not receive your imported documents or AI output through StoreKit.
Permissions
Marginalia does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, or photo library access. File selection is handled by Apple's document picker.
Local Preferences
Marginalia may store local preferences such as onboarding status, appearance choice, and included AI action count on your device. This information is not sent to the developer.
Tracking And Advertising
Marginalia does not include third-party advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking.
