Hivecard Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 15, 2026. This policy explains how Hivecard handles your data.
Data Handling
Hivecard is an on-device utility. Hive records, inspection logs, honey harvest entries, mite treatment events, photos, weather snapshots, and user settings are stored locally in UserDefaults and the app's Documents folder on your device. No data is sent to any developer-controlled server.
Reference Data
The disease and pest guide, seasonal task calendar, mite-treatment list, brood-pattern descriptions, and queen-mark color convention are bundled inside the app as static JSON files. They do not collect user data.
CSV Export
The CSV export feature writes a file to a temporary location on your device and presents the standard iOS share sheet. You choose where the file goes — to Files, AirDrop, Mail, or another app. No data is sent to any developer server as part of this process.
Location
Hivecard requests your device location only when you enable Weather in Settings and explicitly tap "Fetch weather" inside a new inspection. The coordinate is used immediately for a single WeatherKit request and is not stored by the app. If you decline or the fetch fails, the inspection is saved with empty weather fields.
Apple Weather (WeatherKit)
When you tap "Fetch weather," Hivecard calls Apple's WeatherKit service. Apple's privacy policy governs that call. The weather snapshot returned (temperature, humidity, conditions) is stored on your device with the inspection record.
Tracking and Third Parties
Hivecard does not track users across apps or websites. It does not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or crash-reporting services. The only network call the app ever makes is the optional WeatherKit request described above.
Photos
Hivecard uses the iOS 17+ PhotosPicker component to let you attach photos to hives and inspections. This component does not require a separate permission grant. Photos you attach are saved to the app's Documents folder on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
PrivacyInfo Manifest
The app's PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest declares only the NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryUserDefaults reason code (CA92.1) for standard local preferences storage. No other API categories are declared because no others are used.
