In the Capo Positions sheet, each suggestion card has a “See all shapes” button. Tap it to open a full grid of fingering diagrams for every chord you’ll play at that capo position — open shapes highlighted in gold. Review all the shapes before you clamp.
The chord chips in each capo suggestion card are now interactive. Tap any chip to open its fingering diagram directly from the suggestions list, without leaving the sheet.
When you tap “Export chart,” the Export sheet automatically selects the best capo fret for the current key and embeds it in the ChordPro {capo} directive (or plain-text header). Use the fret-picker row to override or clear it before sharing.
Below the transposed chart, tap “Key context” to expand a panel showing the relative key, the parallel key, and all seven diatonic triads for the current key. Tap any chord chip to open its fingering diagram.
In the Capo Positions sheet, tap “Find key for my voice.” Pick your voice type (Bass through Soprano), and the advisor ranks all 12 keys by how well the tonic sits in your comfortable range, blended with open-chord coverage for your instrument.
After transposing, tap “Export chart” at the bottom of the screen. Choose ChordPro format (imports into OnSong, GigBook, Chord!!, and most musician apps) or plain text (for Messages, Notes, or email). Tap “Share” to use the iOS share sheet.
Capoflip parses inline bracket notation ([C], [Am], [G7]) and above-lyric chord rows where chords sit on their own line above lyrics. Slash chords ([C/E]), maj7, m7, sus2, sus4, add9, dim, and aug are all recognized.
Email the App Store product page with your device model, iOS version, and a short description of what happened. Include the chord chart text if the issue is parsing-related.
Common Questions
Does Capoflip require an account or internet connection?
No. Everything runs on your device. No account, no internet, no subscriptions.
Why does Capoflip miss some chords in my chart?
Capoflip uses a chord-line heuristic: a line is classified as chord-only when more than half of its space-delimited words parse as chords. Single ambiguous words like “A” on a lyric line are intentionally kept as lyrics. Switching to inline bracket format ([A]) always works reliably.
What chord qualities are supported?
Major, minor, dom7, maj7, m7, dim (dim7), aug, sus2, sus4, add9, 6, m6, and 9. Slash chords (e.g. C/E) for all of the above.
What changed in version 1.2?
Version 1.2 adds the Capo Quick Reference grid (tap “See all shapes” on any suggestion card), tappable chord chips in the suggestions list, and auto-capo wiring in the export sheet (best fret pre-selected, overridable).
What changed in version 1.1?
Version 1.1 added the Key Context Panel (relative key, parallel key, diatonic chord set), the Voice Range Advisor (six voice types, ranked key recommendations), and ChordPro / plain-text export via the iOS share sheet.
Where are my saved charts stored?
Charts are stored in UserDefaults on your device. They are included in iCloud backups if you have iCloud Backup enabled. They are not synced to any Capoflip server.
Can I import a ChordPro file into Capoflip?
Capoflip parses chord charts you paste in. ChordPro files that use inline [Chord] notation paste in cleanly. Directives like {title:} are treated as lyric/header text and ignored by the chord engine.
Why does the Quick Reference show “No bundled diagram” for some chords?
The bundled fingering library covers all common open and first-position barre chords. Less common voicings (e.g. uncommon extensions at high frets) may not have a diagram. Choosing a different capo position often moves those chords onto a shape that is bundled.
